The helicopter skids towards another group of people, but comes off the ground briefly before crashing again in the distance. A spokesperson for the US-led International Security Assistance Force mentioned the video was taken Feb. 6 in the Paktika province in Afghanistan. The Moment US Apache Helicopter Crashes In Afghanistan
A US Army AH-64 Apache gunship crashed in Marzak, Afghanistan, in restive Paktika province along the border with Pakistan. The incident, captured in the video above, illustrates the dangers of aggressive, low-level flying in a part of Afghanistan where US troops are almost entirely dependent on airplanes and helicopters for resupply and fire support. US troops deployed to Marzak in January at the invitation of local elders. The Americans' goal: to train up a local police force capable of defending the isolated town from Taliban fighters. The crash occurred in February, our colleague Leo Shane from Stars and Stripes tells us. The Apache is shown flying low over the main US outpost at a former boys' school. The helicopter dips too low, bounces off the outpost's snow-covered landing zone and spins wildly, narrowly missing several people before slamming into the ground near the Americans' secondary outpost at a neighboring girls' school. No one was killed, according to the video description, but the copter crew supposedly could face criminal charges. The girls' school is just a stone's throw from "downtown" Marzak. It appears that if the Apache had bounced a few more times, it could have struck several homes and potentially hurt or killed a bunch of people. There's a lot of low-level flying over Marzak. NATO helicopter crash kills 16 people in Afghanistan
A NATO helicopter crashed into a house on the outskirts of the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Friday, killing 12 Turkish soldiers on board and four Afghan civilians on the ground, Turkey's military and a senior Afghan police official said. The crash came amid growing unease among NATO partner countries about the increasingly unpopular and costly war nearly 11 years into the conflict as most foreign combat troops set to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014. "Twelve of our military personnel on board the helicopter have been martyred," the Turkish general staff said in a statement in Ankara. A team had been sent to the scene to investigate, it said. Wreckage as well as corpses and body parts littered the site. Relief workers and Turkish soldiers covered bodies with red and purple blankets on a ground in front of a smoking hole in a two-storey house.

The Moment AH-64 Apache Crashed In Afghanistan
PILOTS in an American army helicopter have survived an extraordinary crash captured on film in Afghanistan. The Apache AH-64 chopper is shown taking off from the Sar Howzah district in the Paktika province. In the incredible footage it flies over buildings before doubling back on itself. But somehow it approaches the ground too quickly and is shown slamming into the snow, spraying it around them. The craft is even flipped on its top as the helicopter's rotors fling it across the landscape before coming to a rest. Miraculously the two people on board the chopper survived and no-one on the ground was injured. US incurs heavy losses in Afghan helicopter crash
The Taliban claims to have shot down a NATO helicopter, killing 31 US special forces troops and seven Afghans. It is the worst single loss of life for the United States since they entered Afghanistan nearly a decade ago. Nato has only confirmed "there was enemy activity" in Wardak province, west of the capital Kabul. But Afghan officials and eyewitnesses say insurgents were behind the attack. 31 Troops Die in helicopter crash in Afghanistan
Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- In the single deadliest loss for US troops since the Afghan war began in late 2001, 30 service members died early Saturday when a helicopter carrying them went down while they were reinforcing other troops, officials said. Insurgents are believed to have shot down the CH-47 Chinook, a US military official said. The Taliban claimed militants downed the helicopter with a rocket-propelled grenade. Among the 25 US special operations forces killed in Wardak province were 22 Navy SEALS, considered to be the "best of the best." Seven Afghan troops also died. The majority of the Navy SEALs who died belonged to the same covert unit that conducted the raid that killed Osama bin Laden in May, though they were not the same men, the military official said. The troops died during a "quick reaction" mission to assist military personnel pinned down by insurgents in a fierce firefight, a US military official told CNN. SEALs Killed in Afghan Crash were on a Rescue Mission
The 30 American service members, most of them elite Navy SEALs, who died when their helicopter was shot down near Kubal, Afghanistan, were on a rescue mission to help Army Rangers who had come under fire, Saturday. The heavy loss shows that clandestine tactics carry huge risks despite the huge success of the SEAL mission that killed Osama bin Laden. Most of the SEALs who died Saturday were from the same unit that killed bin Laden, although none of the men took part in Operation Neptune Spear. The US led coalition plans to rely more on special operations missions as it reduces the overall number of combat troops by the end of 2014. This weekend, the rescue team had subdued attackers who had pinned down the Rangers and were departing in their Chinook helicopter when the aircraft was apparently hit. Thirty Americans and eight Afghans were killed in the crash, making it the deadliest single loss for US forces in the decade long war in Afghanistan.
