Since then, he has continuously been singing ghazals and Punjabi folk songs. "Keon door door rehende oh mere kolon, mainu dass deo hoea ki kassor mere kolon" was his first Punjabi song that had recognised him as a folk singer in the Pakistani society. Hailing from a family of artistes, his elder brother Inayat Ali Khan, also a great singer, was his ustaad.
