As the title suggests, it sometimes seems as if men and women come from two different planets! After outlining a few of the basic differences between genders, Lisa Killinger looks at the common ground upon which men and women can build a solid foundation for a successful marriage. What practical things can we do to work through the differences and come to a better understanding and appreciation of our spouses? What are the core characteristics of an "Islamic" marriage? Safa & Marwa Walk During Hajj
Al-Safa and Al-Marwah (Safa and Marwah) The Masjid al Haram houses the holy Kaaba, the focal point of prayer for all Muslims. Safa — from which the ritual walking (sa`i, Arabic: سعى) begins — is located approximately half a mile from the Kaaba. Marwah is located about 100 yards from the Kaaba. The distance between Safa and Marwah is approximately 450 meters, so that seven trips amount to roughly 3.15 kilometers. The two points and the path between them are now inside a long gallery that forms part of the Masjid. Performing the Sa'i, also known as Sa'ee,[1] serves to commemorate Hajar's search for water and God's mercy in answering prayers

VitalStim at THERAPY 2000 — Safa and Lana's story
Safa is a 3-year-old girl with anoxic brain damage, problems with swallowing, and convulsions. She was developing at an average rate with no complications until her accident, when she sustained anoxic brain damage after near drowning. Saga was taken to hospital and was in the ICU for two weeks, then stayed in the hospital for a month. She was then taken to Baylor for inpatient rehab for a month before returning home. Goals for Safa include tolerating 45-60 minutes of VItalStim with no signs of aspiration and to tolerate oral stimulation with flavor for 15 min per session with minimal to moderate aversion for improved coordination and strength when swallowing within three months. Rehab Potential is good for these Goals Lana is Safa's 4-year-old sister, also with anoxic brain damage, receptive language disorder, and dysphagia. She, too, was developing at an average rate with no complications until her accident, when she sustained anoxic brain damage after near drowning. Goals for Lana include torlerating 10 bites per session of thin to nectar consistency for improved oral intake of liquids in the home within three months. She will also lateralize her tongue to increase range of motion for improved swallowing function within three months and tolerate three ounces of trials of pudding with signs of aspiration for improved oral intake within cert period.
