The song is slow and melodious. Irhsad Kamil's words are simple and sweet. The best thing about the song is certainly singing. Ustad's voice has a folky touch and works well with the song. The song opens with his powerful alaap. Ustad sings with ease. The way he ends the 'phool khilenge' and 'do dil aise milenge' is as if he is lazy to complete the lines, and that adds a special effect to the song. His expressions are so genuine, one can feel the longing for the beloved. The song ends with a flute piece and Ustad's sargam. A perfect end to a great song.

Ustad Sarahang - Shad Kon Jon Man
Ustad Sarahang at his Kabul Concert with sharif ghazal, eltaf hussain, farid and ustad asef. His medal count reached 20, a status earned by fewer than a handful of musicians in the world, and by far the youngest musician to earn so many titles and medals. Ustad Sarahang once said that if he were to die in India, he was to be buried next to the tomb of Baydel, but if he were to die in Afghanistan, he requested to be buried in Kharabat. Upon his last trip to India in 1982, Ustad Sarahang fell gravely ill and was hospitalized and ordered not to sing and to keep his talking to a minimum. But Ustad Sarahang disregarded the orders of his doctors and continued his performance which earned him yet another medal and with it the pride to the people of Afghanistan.

All is not sufiana in the sufi shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin. Famed for its evening qawwalis, the dargah is visited by many wanting to listen to the love hymns of Amir Khusro and Bulleh Shah. William Dalrymple has written quite creatively about their magic in his book City of Djinns (Page 278, Penguin paperback, US edition). The Khusro Nizami Bandhus have an impressive pedigree. Its patriarch, Ustad Meraj Ahmed, is a direct descendant of Ustad Tanras Khan, who was a royal singer at the court of Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar. The family is known for singing qawwalis in its pure form.
